With shiny shovels in hand, Tridel® and K & G Group dug deep to mark the beginning of construction on the Residences of Avonshire on Tuesday May 12th. Much to the delight of the crowd, President of K & G Group, Sam Goldband kicked off the event with a ceremonial dig using a giant excavator. The historic Ground Breaking launched the first phase of a visionary new master planned residential condominium community that will make a signature statement on the North York skyline.
"We’ve been building communities along Yonge Street for over thirty years and Avonshire is a fitting compliment to the neighborhood." said Leo DelZotto, President of Tridel®. To mark this major milestone, Mr. DelZotto was joined by K & G principles Marvin Katz, Sam Goldband and their families. Honored guests from Tridel® included Angelo DelZotto – CEO and Chairman, Elvio DelZotto – Deputy Chair, Harvey Fruitman – Executive VP, Dino Carmel – President of Deltera and Jim Ritchie - Senior VP of Sales and marketing. Avonshire has enjoyed exceptional sales success over the past year and a half. The first phase featuring two exquisite 21 storey condominium towers with 446 suites, along with a luxurious collection of Garden Villas is over 75% sold. Occupancies are scheduled for 2010. When fully completed, this innovative Tridel Built Green. Built For Life® community will be home to approximately 1,200 families living in four residential condominium towers, Garden Villas, town-homes, and a rental condominium residence. All within the community will enjoy a central one-acre park with serene walking paths and beautiful open spaces. Streetscapes have been designed with pedestrian-friendly curb appeal, extensive landscaping, pleasant community walkways and buildings that will have stunning, classically designed street-level facades.

"The Tridel name spells success," K&G Group CEO Marvin Katz told an enthusiastic crowd. K&G Group, which builds and manages properties in the GTA, has partnered with Tridel® on this project. Mr. Katz said the company would own and manage the rental residences on site. The real estate entrepreneur added that Avonshire stands as a unique example of fitting homes to homeowners. "This is the beginning of one of the finest master-planned communities in Toronto. Since we announced our plans, market reception has been overwhelming." Located just two blocks east of Yonge Street, south of Avondale Avenue, it is a short walk or a shuttle bus ride to the Yonge/Sheppard Subway Station. The adjacent Highway 401 and Don Valley Parkway also make the rest of the city easily accessible. North York Centre offers the Civic Centre with Mel Lastman Square, a wealth of shopping, major grocery market, dining, entertainment and theatre options as well as a range of professional and community services, hotel, schools, library, parks and places of worship. Avonshire is an energy efficient and environmentally friendly Tridel community.
