PRESENTING METROGATE, TRIDEL'S LANDMARK GREEN NEIGHBOURHOOD

Toronto, Ontario... Starting in the summer of 2007, a new approach to building healthy neighbourhoods will launch with Tridel’s newest and quite original Metrogate community. To be located just north of the 401 at Kennedy Road in Scarborough, this expansive ‘Naturally Better’ green community will be built on a 17-acre site and when complete, will be home to more than 2,000 families. Most exciting of its many attributes is that Metrogate will be one of the first communities to be considered for the new LEED® Neighbourhood designation.

Tridel has been building in Scarborough for nearly 30 years, and has developed award-winning neighbourhhoods with almost 10,000 condominiums in the area. Now, Metrogate continues this tradition of excellence with its innovative LEED® Neighbourhood candidacy and the master-planned design including a spectacular two-acre, central urban park. The first phase of Metrogate will consist of two condominium towers called Solaris. Designed by the award-winning architectural firm of Graniani and Corazza, the two, 40-storey Solaris condominium towers will feature a clean and elegant, glass-clad exterior rising from a four-storey masonry podium. In addition to Solaris, buyers will have the opportunity to choose from a mix of beautiful townhomes, ensuring that Metrogate will offer choices for singles, couples and families of all sizes. One of the many demonstrations of this family friendliness will be the exclusive use of daycare facilities for community residents.

Solaris – suites that shine with sustainability and style

Solaris will offer fabulous views of the city from its range of one and two bedroom designs, many of which feature dens. These suites are priced from $212,500 and range in size from 570 to 955 square feet. Naturally, these homes will include a diverse range of state-of-the-art, sustainable features including a central heat-recovery ventilator system that will provide cleaner, fresher air in a more cost effective manner, as well as energy saving compact fluorescent lighting, water saving toilets, faucets and showers, low maintenance plank floors, recycling facilities and increased natural lighting to reduce electricity consumption and increase personal comfort.

Residents at Metrogate will also benefit from environmentally preferable corridor carpeting, wall coverings, adhesives, coatings and paints with low volatile organic compounds that help to minimize toxic odours, both in their suite and in common areas. Wherever possible, Tridel selects durable building materials with the lowest environmental impact, which are either capable of being reused, salvaged or have a high level of recycled content to minimize waste.

Characteristic of every Tridel community, residents at Solaris can expect to enjoy their leisure time at “Club Metro”, a private, 7,000 square foot recreation centre featuring a wide range of exclusive amenities including an indoor pool, whirlpool, billiards and party room.
