Tridel’s Leona Savoie, Manager of Development will be the featured speaker on Friday February 29th, 2008

Leona Savoie

Leona Savoie is the Manager of Development at Deltera Inc. (Tridel). Leona’s primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: the investigation of sites to evaluate their development potential; involved in land acquisitions; working with all levels of development consultants to design a development site that ultimately implements Tridel’s vision; taking that vision and working with local residents, political representatives and municipal staff to gain their support for the proposal; with the end task of obtaining all development related permits. Much of this work involves a dynamic relationship with all disciplines within Tridel such as Marketing and Sales, Finance and Accounting, Construction and Customer Service with the primary goal of designing, developing and constructing well planned communities.

Leona received a Bachelor of Applied Arts (B.A.A.) from Ryerson Polytechnic University’s School of Urban and Regional Planning (SURP). While Ryerson’s SURP aims to give students a multi-disciplined exposure to most planning streams, Leona’s main interests lied in Environmental Planning.

Before joining Tridel, Leona was a Development Officer at the Daniels Corporation working on a varied development portfolio such as the NY Towers Community at Bayview and Sheppard, the new headquarters to the Toronto International Film Festival and Festival Tower, several retirement homes and several low-rise communities in Mississauga. Leona also holds experience at the Rockport Group of Companies, a long-standing small scale developer and builder focused on infill townhome condominiums, retirement homes and long-term care facilities. Leona started off her career at the Town of Markham working as a Development Technician and the Secretary-Treasurer of the Committee of Adjustment.

Leona’s extracurricular activities include 9 years sitting on the Ryerson Planning Alumni Committee and she has recently discovered the exciting sport of dragonboat racing.
